Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to investigate the features of the functioning of folklore in the modern art space of Ukraine and outline the factors indicative of its revival. The implementation of this goal involves solving the problems associated with the designation of appeal to folklore in the academic and non-academic domestic musical culture of the present, as well as determining the directions of its theoretical justification. The methodology of the research consists in applying the analysis method, which is used to identify folklore manifestations in the musical culture of Ukraine. Attracting an interdisciplinary approach allows us to expand our understanding of the directions of folklore research. The comparative method allows us to identify the specifics of the transformation of the role of folklore in the works of academic composers. The scientific novelty lies in the coverage of those factors that allow us to argue about the revival of folklore in the modern space of Ukraine. A manifestation of the above is a wide appeal to folklore in academic and non-academic musical culture, attempts to synthesize songs with modern compositional techniques, as well as the use of individual elements of folk music - vocal style, instrumentation, frets and rhythmic foundations. Conclusions. The modern musical culture of Ukraine is developing in close connection with folklore. This level of interaction, which is manifested not in the desire to borrow certain elements, but rather to discover new meanings in what is connected with national roots, acts as a source of ethnic identity. Manifestations of folklore can be found in the academic music of Ukraine, for which this practice has become a kind of unchanging tradition. Numerous examples of the synthesis of the folk musical elements with modern techniques can also be found in non-academic music, and these phenomena can not only be embedded in already known styles, for example, ethno-rock, folk-rock, but also folktronica, which is one of the promising directions. The approaches associated with the study of folklore, aimed at combining the achievements of ethnography and folklore with the mathematical and physical sciences are also changing, indicating a change in the vector of developments due to the development of the latest technologies. All this allows us to talk about the revival of folklore in the Ukrainian space and its potential for the development of future art.
