Summary/Abstract: According to the colonialist view aesthetic objects and attitudes of non-european societies have a non-temporal, metonimic, ethnographic character in opposition to our metaphoric art objects embedded in a temporalized process of art history. Beöthy deconstructs this paradigm both by ethnographizing his artistic objects and attitudes and by reformulating this ethnographic aspect within a concrete temporality.
