Feuilleton in Daily Newspapers in Serbia 1985–1990.

Summary/Abstract: The feuilletons in daily newspapers with largest circulation in Serbia during 1980s (Politika, Politika ekspres and Večernje novosti) have been studied. The topics of the feuilletons, the way of presentation and relations with current political situation have been analysed. The aim of the work is to prove strong correlation between selection of feuilletons’ topics and their presentation with the politics of Serbian leadership. Feuilletons have been used for historical revisionism according to the needs of new ruling ideology (nationalism). They have also been used for inciting hatred against all declared enemies, as well as for creating an impression of endangerment of the Serbs and Serbia. Under these circumstances, it was easy for the leadership (selfpresented as a guardian of national interests) to mobilize citizens and secure wide political support.
