RDA — a change of vision

Summary/Abstract: This paper takes a look at the evolution of the cataloging rules, and aims at highlighting what is preserved and what is changed in the way progress was made. It points out the need of innovative rules and features for the bibliographic description and access, so that they agree with the requirements of the new information resources, the new library user profile and information needs. Bibliographic control is also considered and more so, the characteristics of library science education are looked at, particularly in the manner they come to an agreement with the new RDA rules, or change of vision.
