Oppositional Political Activity of President Antanas Smetona during the Years 1920–1926

Summary/Abstract: Antanas Smetona was the father of Lithuania’s independence, a journalist,lawyer, politician, but also Lithuania’s dictator. He is considered an architectof the country’s authoritarian and fascist regime and at the same time wasa fugitive who fled the country at a decisive moment. Due to the lack ofscientific publications in Polish scientific discourse, my aim is to presentoppositional actions of Lithuania’s first president (during the years 1920–1926)as well as to explore new aspects of his political thought/ideology.
