The face of battle over 40 years later – a few remarks on the margin of the Polish translation of John Keegan’s work

Summary/Abstract: This article reflects on the importance of the book The face of battle by John Keegan for the military history studies as well as the context of its first Polish translation. The author tried to answer the question whether, more than 40 years after the first edition, it has remained valid and may be relevant in the process of academic education realized in Poland. Keegan once proposed a new optics, which became the basis for the new military history, which is still outside the mainstream Polish studies.
