Summary/Abstract: As capitalism swept into Eastern Europe, many observers predicted that citizens of formerly communist regimes would feel nostalgia for such old securities as full employment, free healthcare, and cheap housing. In the Czech Republic this nostalgia has not yet materialized-large maj orities continue to support free marketsbut another more surprising kind has: Nostalgia for the popular culture of communism.
