Summary/Abstract: A concise history of Spanish literature in the twentieth century offers many examples of rehabilitation of an ancient genre, that of the sonnet, essential for the literary history of the Spanish Golden Age. Its connexions with Spanish modernism and its often ideological uses can be traced back to the first decades of the past century and are indicative of a more flexible approach to this form.
