Summary/Abstract: The author presents some less known historical facts about the creation of the „Serbo-Croatian standard language” and the participation of Croats and Serbs in the unitarian language politics. The concept of „Serbo-Croatian standard language” never took hold in Croatia, whereas the Serbs still find it hard to give it up.
