Literature imagology: theoretical aspects of the research

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses and summarizes theoretical issues that require a particular attention on the part of the researcher of imagology when conducting the analysis. An emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinarity of this branch of scientific knowledge and the particular role of literary studies, which deals with images embodied in art. The focus of attention is concentrated on essential questions of truth and falsehood, cause and effect, tact and respect when interpreting the Other. The specifics of the content of the terms “ethnos”, “nation” in imagology are shown and the main tools for analysis are described.
