Modernity in the lexicon – dictionary entry as a manifestation of normalization The newer Slovene lexicon – "Slovar novejšega besedja slovenskega jezika" 2012

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is the presentation of the newer Slovene nouns (600) referring to people (mostly nomina agentis, nomina attributiva). The Slovene data from the mentioned dictionary was compared with the content of the Polish dictionaries. The conducted analysis confirms the differences between the Polish and the Slovene data. A tendency for semantic condensation and derivative potential were observed in the Slovene material. Equivalents of such Slovene words as: adrenalinec, agresivec, barbika, čokoholik, predzakonec, prestižnež, piarovka, piknikar, savnar are not confirmed in the Polish dictionaries. According to the author the Slovene data reveals a tendency for standardization and normalization.
