Summary/Abstract: The text presents possible animal subjects for the Czech verb jít (“to go”). The verb jít prototypically described human movement, then was used anthropomorphically to describe the movement of animals; however, the verb jít cannot be used for all animals. The article presents some brief research into the use of the verb jít with specific animals. The data was collected from both native and nonnative Czech speakers, allowing us to reflect upon which features of an animal’s movement are essential for native Czech speakers to consider it acceptable to use the verb jít.
