Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we reflect upon Jon Fosse’s dramaturgy, considering some of its key premisses. In the first part, we analyse Fosse’s modern drama using Jean-Pierre Sarrazac’s concepts of “drama-of-life” and “impersonnage”. Focusing on Fosse’s so called “family plays”, we there analyse the process of de-dramatisation and de-centring of traditional dramatic categories operating within it. In the second part, we address some of the philosophical and aesthetic premisses of Fosse’s theatre, transcending time and space, and contemplating the invisible behind.
