Summary/Abstract: 114 animal remains were found around the six “ashmounds” from Albiș/Kézdialbis–Rétremenő; their archaeozoological analysis outlines a Noua community that practiced animal husbandry with the main focus on domestic cattle. Later modifications are visible on many bones (gnawing, burning, and/or cutmarks), which gives them the general aspect of household waste. On the other hand, relatively many processed bones were found: six crenated scapulae (four cattle, one horse, and one pig), as well as an awl made of cattle ulna. Two horse bones bear pathological signs: a mandible and a pelvis were broken and distortedly healed. The fact that horses were cared for after such severe fracture proves the importance of the species for the community.
