Summary/Abstract: The influence of time on women’s fashion is a challenge for a passionate researcher of Marcel Proust. The generous corpus of La Recherche du temps perdu is limited, in the case of this analysis, to La Prisonnière, the excerpt of the novel that best corresponds to the hypothesis of the analysis: Marcel Proust invests the clothing items with additional power and a distinct symbolism. Mariano Fortuny, the writer’s favourite fashion designer, is not a random choice and the text fully proves it. The diachronic look on the dresses explains, in a certain way, the evolution of this so coveted feminine garment.
