THE WORK OF THE WRITER ELIF SHAFAK IN TODAY'S WORLD LITERATURE

Summary/Abstract: This article offers a personal view about literature in the contemporary society and the impact of Elif Shafak’s novels on the literature lovers.The aim of the study is to present the importance of the literature for every person in a computerized society, where each man can find very easy information and almost no one read a book in contemporary.Another objective of this article is to show Elif Shafak’s life and to analyze the most representative novels inspired by the real word: Islamic culture versus Occidental culture, the status of the woman in the oriental society. Elif Shafak brings us many positive or negative characters in her novels for the purpose of becoming models or anti – models for every person. She is also one of the most revelation of the universal literature because her collection of the novels is a copy of the actual reality. The last part of the hereby article is based on values and attitudes about the diference between the religion and spirituality or between duty or love. The study presents also the relationship between the majority and minority in a contemporary society. In conclusion, the subject is new and interested for universal literature and offers a lot of important aspects about the hard problems of the islamic people in an occidental world or about love viewed as a low.
