The significance of intellectual capital investment in a modern enterprise

Summary/Abstract: An enterprise’s ability to independent learn and build-up of its knowledge is currently treated as a basic competitive advantage. Together with that the intangible resources and the undertaken investments in the area of intellectual capital are getting more important. Due to the crucial contribution to the improvement in enterprise competitiveness a need of increasing investment also exists in the area of the intellectual capital in case of Polish enterprises. Unfortunately, the statistical data indicates, that the amount of investment for human capital, as well as structural capital in Polish enterprises seems still too low towards other UE-27 countries. The maintenance of this tendency in the long term can influence negatively their competitive ability in the future.
