Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author shows that the four-language dictionary Juridisch-politische Terminologie (Vienna, 1853) had a very important role in creating the system of Croatian military terminology. In this dictionary, the Croatian editor incorporated the old Croatian military terminology. All this provided a firm foundation on which Šulek and his collaborators could develop a good system of Croatian military terminology that was seriously disrupted by Serbian domination after 1918, but that has been restored in its greatest part in the past two decades.
