Summary/Abstract: The author of this paper explains the problem of the identification of misprints on the ground of intertextual parallels in the epic “Stephen the Little“ by Serbian poet Petar II Petrovich Nyegosh from the epoch of romanticism. In the first chapter according to the lexicographic explanation of John Richardson: “Jаn bi¬ni Jаn, The name of an imaginary being, who makes a great figure in Eastern fabulous tradition. He is supposed to have been the monarch of that race of creatures called by the Arabians Ğаnn or Ğinn, (by the Persians Ğаnniаn or Ğinniаn)” (“A Dictionary, Persian, Arabic and English“, London, 1806, p. 333) a ’dark spot’ was lit up in the 3550 line of the epic “Stephen the Little“: кa невјĕрни народ Џaн¬ бенЏaна. In the second chapter according to the manner of writing particular forms in the script of prior Teodosiya Mrkoyevich attached to the first edition of the epic, reconstruction of the syllabic R and the diphthong is explained in the epic “Stephen the Little“. The third chapter as well as the closing chapter of the study presents explanation of the supposition that Vuk Vrchevich had copied for the reason of printing the text of the epic “Stephen the Little” and that he had borrowed from Nyegosh’s autograph besides the line 2588 (Много огња под малијем лонцем) also the line 2589 (Лонац прште ал чорба пребуја) but the poet left the line 2588 unchanged in his final version while changing the line 2589 with the new one (ал ће прснут ал пролит лијеко). In the fourth chapter on the ground of comparing the epic “The Mountain Wreath” and certain Nyegosh’s poems with the former editions as well as with the overall vocabulary of the poet the misprints are reconstructed in the first edition of the epic “Stephen the Little”.
