Summary/Abstract: : Law no. 172 to amend Law no. 16/2017 on the posting of workers in the provision of transnational services was implemented in Romania starting from 16 August 2020. The law makes changes to the conditions that Romanian employers need to fulfill when they assign employees to another EU Member State or Switzerland, as well as the other way around. This law transposes Directive (EU) 2018/957 of the European Parliament and the Council of 28 June 2018. The Directive imposes stricter conditions on employers, in order to protect the rights of the posted workers and to reduce differences between the remuneration in comparison with a local employee, as well as to ensure that the posted worker enjoys the same rights to health, safety and working conditions.
