Summary/Abstract: The subject of the research is homily 2 from the Old Bulgarian unpublished and unexplored translation of the Hexameron by John the Exarch. All textoligical, morphosyntactical and lexical peculiarities of the text are put to analysis. The early Old Bulgarian origin of the translation is supported by the results of the linguistic research. The article also poses the question of when and in what language the full translation of the Hexameron by John the Exarch was made, containing 67 interpretative homilies on the Book of Exodus and preserved in Serbian copies. The comparison of three abstracts of homily 2 based on the two versions of the translation Zogr19 and PM4/2, convincingly, though partially, shows that both versions point to a common archetype.
