Summary/Abstract: Chapter 31 of the compilation Merilo Pravedno is identified as as a creative reworking of ch. 65 of the Old Testament apocryph 2 Enoch by insertion of excerpts from ch. 40:12–60:4 in the place of 65:5 and adding 66:7 as conclusion. It is not descended directly from the full translation (preserved only in Slavonic) but from a prior abridgment cd, part d; notes to the edition show precisely how it relates to the preceding stages in the development of the text. Error analysis shows that the spelling of its 6 consulted witnesses is determined by two independent transcriptions into Cyrillic, m1 and m2. They both missed the most archaic feature, preserved only in the three witnesses to the full text, the spelling of шьствиѥ ‘path’ with an initial щ, reflecting ć, as in verse 30 of the Alphabet Prayer of Constantine of Preslav.
