Looking for the Light: Hungarians in Timişoara and the Project of the European Capital of Culture

Summary/Abstract: Timişoara was elected as one of the European Capitals of Culture for 2021, based on a programme entitled Shine your light – Light up your city! The programme was delayed due to the COVID-19 situation for the year 2023. The local Hungarian community prepared a set of programmes that they hope could be included into the official programme of the Capital of Culture. The author offers an overview of the plans of major cultural institutions and of Hungarian minority organisations based on the multicultural aspect of the European Capital of Culture programme
