Summary/Abstract: The author identifies a set of words of importance for the identity of the Croatian language and calls them Croatianisms in the Croatian language. These words co-exist with other words that are common for the remaining three standard languages based on the štokavian dialect. He calls these parallel words spontaneities because they have become spontaneous through a longer period of habituation of the speakers of Croatian to the Croato-Serbian language.
