Summary/Abstract: The first decade of the 20th century marks one of the biggest changes in the Romanian national movement from Transylvania: the National Conference from 1905 decided that Romanians would participate to the ellections and debates from the Budapest Parliament. Moving from passivism to activism meant that Romanians had to eliminate the Transylvanian autonomy from their political programm. There were political personalities who agreed with this decision, while others considered it a mistake. However, their attendance at the parliamentary debates from Budapest was marked by the Romanian speeches about patriotism and support for the integrity of the Hungarian State. Even if their final wish was the union of Transylvania with Romania, at that time, the Romanians couldn’t predict the outbreak of the First World War, which made this desire possible. Eventually, the Romanian deputies only wanted to do the best they could for their nation, taking into consideration the conditions which characterized those times.
