Summary/Abstract: The corruption phenomenon has a negative impact both regarding the accession of a state to European Union and the sustainability of full integration in its structures, especially in case of states which do not manage to implement efficient anti-corruption strategies and which do not align their domestic legislation with the community legisla¬tion. The corruption remains a major problem, not only in the developing countries, but it is a problem which prevents economic growth, weakens the state of law and under¬mines the legitimacy of institutions.
