Summary/Abstract: The aggregative approach is currently a dominant way of conducting analyses on collective actions and social movements. Within aggregative methods, actions are analyzed as a sum of the values of separate elements, or variables. The article offers an empirical illustration of the techniques for complementing aggregative research methods with relational methods in the sociology of social movements. It presents the study on the extreme right movement in Poland covering the period between 1990 and 2013. The findings have indicated the changes in the variance of violence perpetrated by the extreme right movement overtime. They have created a need for a more precise tool capable of explaining why the scale of violence have decreased significantly over a specific period. Relational approach has allowed to capture the most important features of the ‘space’, or field, in which the extreme right movement in Poland functions.
