Statistical analysis of the water footprint of the South-Muntenia region’s population

Summary/Abstract: The water footprint concept was introduced in 2002 by Arjen Y. Hoekstra to have an indicator of water consumption. The importance of water footprint research is given by the growing pressure on the freshwater resources of the Earth, pressure due to increased consumption and increased pollution. Knowing the footprint of end consumers, retailers, the food industry, and water-consuming retailers can make them change agents in promoting safe water use. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the water footprint of the population of the South-Muntenia region. To achieve this, the online footprint calculator for Water Footprint Network and the online form created and made available by Google Forms have been used.
