Summary/Abstract: Especially in the last decade, attitudes towards the European Union (EU) have gradually changed in Italy. Consistent traditional support expressed by Italians has recently taken a volatile and even critical structure. Faith in EU membership has declined significantly among Italian citizens. Euroscepticism rhetoric reflecting anti-EU sentiment has escalated in the country. Especially after the 2018 elections, the Italian government has often come into conflict with the EU. This article aims to provide a brief overview of the reasons for the Euroscepticism that existed in the country especially after the 2000s and the changes in Italian attitudes towards European integration, focusing on the public and politicians of Italy.
