Summary/Abstract: This research aims to examine the glass ceiling syndrome, which is one of the career obstacles for female employees to become senior managers in universities in our country. For this purpose, as of December 2020, a content analysis research was carried out on the official websites of universities, and the level of glass ceiling syndrome for senior women managers was tried to be determined with secondary data. It has been determined that the ratio of female managers in positions such as vice-rector, dean and director of higher education is at a sufficient level (25%), while it is lower for the positions of rector and general secretary. The results show that the glass ceiling syndrome (career barrier), which can be considered as a gender discrimination against women senior executives in universities, is especially important in the positions of rector and general secretary. It shows that the barrier is lower in the rector, vice dean and academic unit administrators. It can be said that in state universities, there are not enough senior female managers, and in foundation universities, the issue of employing a sufficient level of senior female managers is better.
