Summary/Abstract: Aim: The purpose of this article is to make an analytical assessment of the effects of Alfred D. Chandler, Jr., who is considered the father of modern business history, on business history. Method: For this purpose, first of all, the birth and development of the history of business have been discussed. Then, Alfred Chandler's life, works, contributions to the history of business, and discussions and objections to his generalizations were emphasized. Then, factors that changed the international popularity of Chandler and his ideas were evaluated. In the last section, the lasting and obvious effect of the Chandlerian perspective on business history has been examined and the study has been concluded with the conclusion. Results: Although the pro-Chandler paradigm has lost much of its luster over time, the new style of economically informed business history continues to gain increasingly attention around the world. Conclusion: Although controversies and objections to his generalizations still exist today, due to his works in this field, especially due to his generalizations on the relationship between strategy and structure, the distinction between central and peripheral sectors, and the role of large enterprises and management in innovation, it is thought Chandler to retain his central role in Business History
