Literary and Spiritual Legacy of the Abbess of the Kiev Pokrovsky Monastery Sofia Grinyova (1873–1941)

Summary/Abstract: Schema-Abbess Sophia (Grineva) of Kiev was one of the outstanding spiritual and cultural leaders of the beginning of the XX century. She was the Mother Superior of a huge convent, organized in keeping with the ancient tradition of deaconesses in the Church, and the type of services that they performed. Sophia Grineva’s poetry album allows us to become acquainted with her personality and her world view, which led to such a unique type of monastic life, as well as with the specifics of the culture of her era.
