Summary/Abstract: Pentecostalism is a current of spirituality that grew from very humble beginnings to one of the dominant forces in the global Christianity within one century. Embracing more than half a billion people today, it poses questions for Catholic theology and practice. An important aspect of the new movement is its attracting force for the poor people for whom it serves as a major form of social organization. It is a challenge for the Catholic Church with her motto “option for the poor”, when the poor tend to go instead to the Pentecostal communities, especially in Latin America, Asia and Africa. In this text an argument is proposed about the need of stressing spirituality more than socio-economic problems. An integral vision of the human person helps to overcome the reduction of man to her/his economic needs. The aim of this article is to point at the main force of attraction of the Pentecostalism which starts with the spiritual dimension of the human per-son only then to follow other aspects, including social and economic ones.
