Summary/Abstract: New areas of application of information and communication technologies need fit users. The strategies of information technologies require high qualification specialists; therefore demand for qualifying more and better IT specialists has been increasing. The number of information and electronic communication technologies is growing fast in Lithuania. Public services in public administration, health, social area and education have been faster and faster placed on the Internet. Business services have been expanding even faster in the Internet environment. Great prospects are opening for dissemination of the Lithuanian language and culture in multicultural and information society. Already now these and other fields require engineers in e-publishing and computer network administration. In the region of Southern Lithuania Alytus College, one of higher education institutions has been qualifying specialists in e-publishing and computer network administration. Under the new specialist market conditions not only the opinion of employers in the region of Southern Lithuania about future specialists’ vocational competencies and general and special skills is important, but also international experience in qualifying such kind of specialists.
