Summary/Abstract: The article aims at introducing the translation of Achard of Saint Victor’s sermon for the feast of saint Augustine as well as at presenting an important thread in Achard’s metaphysics and anthropology, viz. the image and likeness of God; this is done in the context of the Augustinian phrase regio dissimilitudinis, which is the main focus of Achard’s sermon. Thus a commentary to the text and the historical context of said concepts are presented. The doctrine of regions of similitude and dissimilitude to God within creature are of vital importance to Achard’s anthropology, as it constitutes the basis for his teaching on the spiritual history of man, the nature of the original sin, the redemption and the relation of nature and grace. As regards his metaphysics, the region of natural likeness is fundamental in understanding his notion of creature as well as his arguments for the existence of primary plurality in God.
