Landmarks for a Database on the Reception of Romanian Memoirism in the Cultural Periodicals (a Selection between 1960 and 2020)

Summary/Abstract: Our article is based on the work for the project A Computerized Database on the Reception of Romanian Memoirism in the Cultural Periodicals (19602020) funded by the Romanian Academy in the 20192021 grants competition, the Humanities subprogramme. The project was initiated by the Department of Literary History at the “A. Philippide” Institute of Romanian Philology – the Iași Branch of the Romanian Academy, and aims at providing a selective evidence upon the reception of Romanian memoirs during 19602020 as reflected by the Romanian cultural journals in Romania and from abroad.The project involves the creation of a site that stores information from the Romanian cultural journals referring to the various stages of the Romanian culture and literature. Users will have the opportunity to run searches within the stored information on the site by journal title, the publication year, the name of the authors of reviews, the name of the authors of memoirs the reviews are written about, by titles of the reviewed books etc.We consider that the information gathered from the cultural journals on the reception of Romanian memorialism should be regarded as national cultural heritage as memoirism is a relevant segment of Romanian literature and culture. In the journals researched so far one can find information from various subgenres: autobiographies, biobibliographical evocations, memories, portraits, tributes and obituaries, diaries,/memoirs, personal correspondence and political letters, interviews, reviews etc.
