The Portrait without Identity

Summary/Abstract: Even though man does not want to appeal to nature itself and wants to look at it only thru himself, he always oscillates between the two opposite poles. Ladies of Avignon is the first cubist painting through which the artist Pablo Picasso gives up the classic procedures of plastic representation, following a new courageous direction. Paul Klee abandons the rules of established imagery, thus becoming one of the artists who laid the foundations of modern art by metamorphosing the plastic space into an energetic and flexible one.
