Summary/Abstract: Gabriel Hasmațuchi's essays from the book „Cultural Alternatives„ (2018) focus on some important debates that balanced the destiny of Romanian spirituality. There are moments of division in modern culture, the interwar one and, of course, the transitional one. The thinkers he invites to a banquet of ideas are reference names of Romanian philosophy: M. Kogălniceanu, T. Maiorescu, C. Noica, Ernest Bernea, D.D. Rosca, Nichifor Crainic, who is joined by the Russian thinker Nikolai Berdiaev. From the space of transition culture, are analyzed: Teodor Vidam, Ilie Guțan, C. Schifirneț, Florea Firan. The essayist indicates the north of the autochthonous values and their universal horizon, but at the same time he puts the diagnosis of some interstices through which the Romanian culture has passed until today.
