Methods and Techniques in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Primary Education

Summary/Abstract: This article aimed to investigate the English language teaching methods and techniques that are used in EFL classrooms at “Hasan Prishtina” Primary School in the Municipality of Cair in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia. Qualitative and quantitative research methods were used for data collection; that is, teaching and learning class observations were carried out, interviews with English teachers were conducted, and two questionnaires (pupil and teacher) were used. The aim of the research was to find out which ELT methods and techniques are most commonly used by the English teachers when teaching English in primary education. Moreover, it investigateed their approach to creating a learning atmosphere that enables interaction and communication among pupils.
