Summary/Abstract: Some previous studies have shown variations of some physiological variables and efficiency as well as subjective assessment of task difficulty during different phases of menstrual cycle. The aim of this study was to examine psychophysiological reactions on corporal exertion during premenstrual and follicular phase of menstrual cycle. A group of 16 female subjects average age 22 years (M=21,67 sd=1,55) with regular menstrual cycles and not using oral contraceptives participated in this study during their premenstrual and follicular phase of the menstrual cycle. Each situation included activation self-assessment on Thayer’s AD-ACL scale followed with performance of eight tasks (five to twelve newtons of difficulty/exertion) on cycle ergometer. Heart rate and task difficulty assessment on Borg’s scale were measured immediately after performance. Data analysis confirmed effects of menstrual cycle and task difficulty on heart rate and subjective assessment. Namely, with higher difficulty level heart rate and subjective values increased. Heart rate, task difficulty assessment and high activation assessment values were higher in premenstrual phase which is characterized with lower level of estrogen. Results of this research are similar with results of some previous research.
