Summary/Abstract: Unlike religion, which refers to the socio-cultural aspect, religiosity refers to the individual aspect (Škrabl, 1992; according to Soršak, 2000.), which is the subject of this research. The aim of this study was to examine the relation of intrinsic and extrinsic orientation and personality traits. According to Allport (Allport), extrinsic religious person is more observant to the benefits from the faith than to its requirements and its authentic spirit, and intrinsically religious person through faith transcends personal interests and accepts and take care of faith because of its own values. In this research Five-factor Inventory BFI (Big Five Inventory; Benet- Martinez and John, 1998) was used. IES scale was used for measureing religious orientation. The research was conducted on a convenience sample of 299 respondents- students of different departments of Faculty of Arts on University of Tuzla, of which 72.9% were female (n = 218) and male 27.1% (N = 81), aged 18 to 35 years. The results indicate that intrinsic religious orientation showed a significant association with the Agreeableness [r (282) = 0.245, p = 0.000)], and Conscientiousness [r (282) = 0.222, p = 0.000)], and extrinsic religious orientation tends connection with Neuroticism, located on the border of statistical significance r [(283) = -0.117, p = 0.050]. The results are broadly in line with similar studies with the restriction that the sample is not balanced by gender, which diminishes the importance and suggests future research.
