Summary/Abstract: Job insecurity is experience accompanied by a prolonged sense of uncertainty of remaining at the current job position, whereas the job satisfaction is considered to be indicator of individual work motivation and well-being. In accordance with obviously important role of employment in ones life, a number of research had been based on the assumption how would immediate cognitive response on experienced job insecurity be related to the job satisfaction decrease. The problem of this research was to determine whether and to what extent is the perceived job insecurity related to the job satisfaction. These instruments were administered: Job insecurity scale (Sverke et al., 2004), Job satisfaction scale (Maslić Seršić, Šverko and Galić, 2005) and the Questionnaire of sociodemographic characteristic (Husremović and Marković, 2011). The research included a total of 374 employees of two mostly state owned work organisations in Sarajevo. The results of hierarchical regression analysis have shown that perceived job insecurity is not significant predictor of job satisfaction. The authors explained these result as a possibility of active avoidance as a form of confronting the future employment uncertainty thus risking the passiveness that prevents them to actively search for better alternatives. The results on our sample showed that significant predictors of job satisfaction are these sociodemographic characteristics: family responsibility and age as well as working context (affiliation to the company).
