Summary/Abstract: Innovations of technology and digitalisation exercise a fundamental effect on the world of work. While these developments can be seen as a means of boosting innovation and economic growth, they also evoke the employees’ fear of being replaced by modern technologies. As such, across the European Union and in the Member States, the short- and medium-term preparation of human labour force for the upcoming possible changes have already begun to address the challenges raised by these innovations. Hungary also recognised the importance and irreversibility of digital transformation. As a consequence, instead of refraining from digitalisation, Hungary wished to prepare employees for the expected changes. This resulted in the adoption of different programmes in order to take advantage of digitalization. One of the key programmes is the Digital Success Programme, which - amongst others – aims to make enterprises and employees better-prepared for the digital transformation. Among the particular sub-strategies of the Programme, the article will focus on the Digital Labour Force Programme, focusing on digital labour shortages and on the Digital Startup Strategy, aiming to support Hungarian startups. The aim of the article is to identify the challenges raised by technological innovation, especially digitisation with respect to labour force, and to present the different initiatives implemented in order to address these challenges, with special regard to the measures adopted by Hungary.
