Summary/Abstract: A lot of writing and talking were devoted to the classical forms of pollution affecting the environment where people live and work in Romania. Nevertheless, the authors of this work deal with a new form of pollution, called demographic pollution, with rather social implications, which indirectly limits the respect for the human right to a healthy life. This relatively new entity adds one more cause to those responsible for the “degradation” of the physical and the social environment where Romanians live their lives. The unfavourable evolution of the demographic indices characterizing the Romanian society, synthesized in a synoptic table included in the work, justifies taking political, social, medical and legal measures meant to induce, in the near or more distant future, the demographic redress, and the diminution of the discrepancies between the economically active and inactive population. In the end, it is expected to have, on the one hand, a healthy and sustainable economic growth, and on the other hand, a decent living standard for Romania's entire population, now that the unanimous desire of Romanians, namely, that Romania became part of the European Union, has come true. However, we are aware of the fact that for a genuine integration to be achieved, a pretty long period of time is needed.
