Summary/Abstract: Tour guiding education in Turkey is provided in four different models, and each model accepts students with different requirements. This creates a workforce with varying and questionable levels of skills in the tourism industry. Therefore, this study aims to determine the most efficient tour guiding education model by comparing these models in terms of students’ vocational competences, satisfaction levels, and intention to work. The data were collected through a survey from a total of 445 participants. Stratified sampling method was chosen to represent the universe adequately. Results indicate that there are significant correlations between study variables. And, vocational competence has a partial mediating role in satisfaction and intention to work relationships. In light of the study findings, suggestions are given. Therefore, tour guiding education must be provided on a bachelor’s degree and by the universities. Non-thesis master’s degree should be used to provide tour guides who can speak different languages for the industry.
