Summary/Abstract: Language and culture are two concepts that are deeply rooted in each other, codependent, as Brown pointed out (2000: 177). This relation is visible in the process of teaching a foreign language, when the teacher must manifest a developed cultural awareness in order to better integrate the culture in the teaching process of the target language. This article aims to review part of the literature that approached the relationship between language and culture and to discuss the cultural aspects that must be considered while teaching a foreign language. For exemplification, we have chosen the teaching of Romanian language as a foreign language.
