Summary/Abstract: This article takes into consideration the case of teaching Romanian as a foreign language in an online format in a study program offered to foreign students by the TechnicalUniversity of Civil Engineering Bucharest (henceforth UTCB). Some aspects of the teaching context and of the teaching itself are discussed. Four relevant factors for the present situation are taken into account: 1. The group of students is not uniform from a cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic point of view. 2. There are significant differences between the academic background of the students. 3. The teaching of Romanian grammar and communication skills is made by using a third language as teaching language. 4. The teaching process takes placeonline.
