The Study of Diminutives in Pola de Siero (Asturia, Spania)

Summary/Abstract: Our paper aims to provide an overview of the diminutives using a spontaneous speech corpus from Pola de Siero (Asturias, Spain). This paper presents the results of the research undertaken on 24 speakers that we selected taking into account three ‘basic’ social variables: age, gender, and educational background. We also consider each speaker’s mother tongue, occupation, social class and direct ties with the Asturian language and the consequences each may bring, among others.
