Summary/Abstract: The Visegrad Group has played a positive role prior to the four members’ accession to the transatlantic structures. First of all, it contributed to the process of Central Europe’s consolidation as a separate and distinct geopolitical area. Due to the dissonance which accompanied the four V4 members at one time or another during the integration process, there was no solid evidence suggesting that the group was to be of lasting importance even after the end goal - the accession of its members to European Union and NATO. This resulted in a discussion about the usefulness of continued quadrilateral co-operation. Poland’s position on this issue was that following entry to the EU, modified co-operation within V4 may be useful for implementing member states' foreign policy objectives. The V4 remained a “good brand” of a rapidly developing Central Europe.
