Summary/Abstract: The great powers, who wanted to control Central Asia in different phases of history, attempted to acquire their goals through Afghanistan, being a corridor in the region. This struggle, called the “Great Game” in international relations literature, initially started with Czarist Russia and Great Britain and lasted from mid-19th century and covered the last two decades of 20th century. By America’s intervention to Afghanistan after September 11, 2001attacks, the New Great Game started in the same field, but with different players. Thus, in Central Asia Afghanistan can be characterized as a balancing actor that balances great powers
